A Dominican national has been arrested in the United States for immigration and drug-related offenses, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack. Robely Eladio De Jesus Guerrero, 37, who was unlawfully residing in Massachusetts, faces charges of unlawful reentry after deportation and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
De Jesus Guerrero appeared in federal court and is currently detained. His next court appearance is set for June 20, 2025. Charging documents reveal that he was deported from the U.S. to the Dominican Republic in November 2021 but was later encountered by law enforcement in New Hampshire during August and September 2024.
During this period, De Jesus Guerrero allegedly distributed approximately 120 grams of fentanyl and one pound of methamphetamine. The charges related to controlled substance distribution could result in a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine up to $1 million. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge following U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation into this case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Hunter leading the prosecution.
This arrest is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. The operation consolidates efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
It should be noted that the details contained within the charging documents are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
