A Dominican Republic national has been apprehended in Manchester on charges related to drug trafficking. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announced the arrest of Daris Rafael Melo Vittini, a 39-year-old residing unlawfully in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Vittini faces one count of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, specifically fentanyl and crack cocaine.

The arrest occurred following observations by the Manchester Police Department on June 30, 2025. Officers noticed Vittini driving a vehicle known for its involvement in narcotics distribution. A traffic stop was conducted, during which a K-9 unit detected the scent of drugs emanating from the car. A subsequent search revealed approximately 114 grams of suspected fentanyl and 13 grams of suspected crack cocaine concealed within the center console’s “hide.” Additionally, around $1,500 was found alongside these substances.

Further inspection uncovered that Vittini carried approximately 45 grams of suspected fentanyl and 37 grams of suspected crack cocaine on his person. In total, authorities seized about 119 pre-packaged baggies containing the illegal drugs.

If convicted, Vittini could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine reaching $1 million, and supervised release ranging from three years to life.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Major Offender Task Force along with the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mike Shannon is handling the prosecution.

This operation is part of Operation Take Back America—a comprehensive initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) while safeguarding communities from violent crime perpetrators.

It should be noted that all details provided in charging documents are allegations at this stage. The defendant remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
