A Mexican national has pleaded guilty to transporting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) into the United States while crossing illegally from Canada, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan.

Jose Rodriguez-Garcia, 27, admitted guilt to one count of transporting CSAM. The sentencing is set for December 15, 2025, before U.S. District Court Chief Judge Landya McCafferty.

Court documents and statements indicate that on June 6, 2024, Rodriguez-Garcia and another individual were seen by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents as they crossed from Canada into New Hampshire at Hall Stream Road. During a search, authorities found several electronic devices on Rodriguez-Garcia, including a thumb drive containing CSAM.

The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge following the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol led the investigation in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles L. Rombeau is handling the prosecution.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which brings together resources from across the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat transnational criminal organizations through programs such as the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
